Confidence Unshackled

February 1, 2017

“Moab shall be ashamed of chemosh as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence” Jer48:13
In contrast to the false confidence of Moab and Israel…

“I suffer trouble as an evil doer even to the point of chains; but the Word of God is not chained” 2Tim2:9

It is always a supreme and surpassing confidence a man can have in the true God. This confidence is a rock to the soul, strong fortress in wartime, and an anchor to the soul. The source of the confidence is not an emotion nor is it reflective of encouraging circumstances but found in Christ Himself.
The enemy of this confidence is the double minded, unstable man. He rejects the promises of God. He questions every truth of God. He speaks against God, “if you are truly good why doesn’t this feel very good? Why am I in these chains?”
But the lesson and the blessing is in this…watch and see, the battle belongs to the Lord. “Yes I know that already, but why am I suffering?” Here’s the display of power – the Word of God isn’t chained up even when you are. God’s Spirit comes to the broken hearted. Power is perfect in weakness. Where there is death of the flesh – my agenda, my pride, my opinions – Christ is manifested.
What a joy we have in believing! Great confidence.
